A smog failure is a diagnostic job, not a parts job. We test, read the readiness monitors and the failure report, then find the actual cause — a lazy oxygen sensor, an EVAP leak, a failing catalytic converter, a misfire, or simply a monitor that never completed a drive cycle.

Yes. Bring the failure report — it tells us which measurement missed and by how much, which shortens the diagnosis.
Why does it say not ready?
Monitors reset when the battery is disconnected or codes are cleared. The vehicle has to complete a drive cycle before it can pass.
Do trucks need a smog check?
Model-year and weight rules apply. Call with your year and GVWR and we will tell you where you stand.
